Govt hands over land to Qatar embassy at token price

DHAKA, July 13 (BSS) - The Ministry of Housing and Public Works today handed over a plot to Qatar Embassy in city's Gulshan-2 area at a token price in a simple ceremony held at Bangladesh Secretariat.

The government allocated the 25.36-katha plot at NE (K)-6,Road- 89 in Gulshan-2 area following the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relation, 1961, Article 23 (1) after getting approval from the Prime Minister.

On the basis of mutual exchange, Bangladesh will get a piece of land for its embassy at new diplomatic zone in Doha, the capital city of Qatar.

A lease deed was signed by Secretary of the Housing and Public Works Dr Khondokar Shawkat Hossain and Qatar Ambassador to Bangladesh Abdulrahman Y. Al-Mulla. Minister of State for Housing and Public Works Advocate Abdul Mannan Khan was present on the occasion.
