Chapainawabganj municipality announced budget for new fiscal

CHAPAINAWABGANJ, July 14 (BSS) - Chapainawabganj municipality announced its annual budget of Tk. 24,12,76,808 for the fiscal year 2011 - 2012 on Wednesday.

Mayor of Chapainawabganj municipality Maolana Abdul Matin
declared the budget in an open meeting organized by
Chapainawabganj Committee of the Concerned Citizen (CCC) of
Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB) at Shahid Satu hall
in Chapainawabganj town in the afternoon.

In the budget, income of Tk. 7,73,93,952 from the
municipality's own sources, Tk. 88,17,952 from water supply, Tk.
48,04,224 from slum development activities, Tk. 14,51,00,000 from
total development aids funds (UGIIP, BMDF) and others and Tk.
51,60,680 as starting balance have been shown.

Expenditure of Tk. 7,22,94,224 for the municipality's own
expenses, Tk. 16,55,71,904 for development and Tk. 34,10,680 as
closing balance have also been shown in the budget.

In the new budget taxes, rate and fees would be increased and
an excess of Tk. 79,16,789 than that of the last year has been
shown income from taxes, rate, fees and others.

The open budget declaration programme was held with the
convenor of the CCC Advocate Sohrab Ali in the chair. Among
others, Senior Programme Manager of TIB Fazila Khanam, CCC
members Advocate Saiful Islam Reza and Gouri Barmon Situ spoke at
the function.

An open discussion participated by the dwellers of the
municipality on different aspects of the budget was also held.
