Muhith calls for more successes of DMC in healthcare services

DHAKA, July 13 (BSS) - Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith today urged the teachers and students of Dhaka Medical College (DMC) to put their best efforts for achieving further successes in medical sector.

Recalling the glorious contribution of the college, he said DMC made valuable contribution to health sector along with in different struggles and movements of the country.

The finance minister was speaking at a function at Dr Milon auditorium of DMC marking 66th founding anniversary of the college.

Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr AFM Ruhal Haque, Advisor to the Prime Minister for Health Dr Syed Modasser Ali, Dr Mostafa Jalal Muhiuddin, MP, and National Prof Dr Shaila Khatun, among others, spoke.

DMC Alumni Trust Chairman Dr Mohammad Fazlul Haque presided.

Muhith said the DMC should be upgraded into a full-fledged medical university to increase quality of medical education.

He extended his support to the demand of upgrading the college into a medical university as it will create immense opportunity toward better medical education and research.

Ruhal stressed the need for establishing more medical universities in the country to produce more post-graduates for spreading quality medical education.

Recalling the motto of medical science -- serve the people, he said the government is giving priority to introduce modern medical education.

Modasser said doctor's community should be devoted to serve the people.
