2221 women receive VGD bonus at Sundarganj

GAIBANDHA, Sep 22 (BSS) - A total of 2221 distressed women at Sundarganj Upazila of the district received TK 42.20 lakh as bonus on Wednesday from VGD programme funded by European Union and Government of Bangladesh.

Upazila Women Affairs Office disbursed the money to the beneficiaries of the programme, which was implemented by Resource Integration Center from May 2009 to May 2011 in the upazila in partnership with ASOD and UDPS, office sources said.

Deputy Commissioner M. Shahidul Islam handed over the cash of TK 1900 to each of the beneficiary in a function held at the hall room of the Upazila Parishad as the chief guest.

Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) M. Shamsul Azam, Upazila Women Affairs Officer (UWAO) Shahnaz Akter and public representatives were also present on the occasion.
